PAUL ABLACK, FOUNDER & CEO, ONAPPROACH

Paul started OnApproach to specialize in leveraging organization’s data to support better decision making and drive profitability. Prior to starting OnApproach, Paul was Vice President/General Manager of energy information services for Honeywell Automation & Control. His global responsibilities included overseeing all aspects of strategic planning, marketing, promotion, research and development and general management of the energy information services business. Paul has also held a variety of key sales leadership and general management positions across the United States and Canada for both Honeywell and General Electric. Paul’s background includes experience in financial services, energy, manufacturing and technology. The recipient of numerous sales and leadership awards, Paul has been an active member of several industry and business organizations including The Authentic Leadership Project, The Data Warehouse Institute, and the Richard Ivey School of Business. He earned an honors business administration degree from the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario.

KIRK DRAKE, PRESIDENT AND CEO, ONGOING OPERATIONS, LLC - KEYNOTE

Kirk Drake is a lifelong entrepreneur, author, and founder of Credit Union 2.0. He is a credit union and technology enthusiast who built eight successful businesses, notably the Credit Union Service Organization (CUSO) Ongoing Operations, CU Wallet - a mobile wallet venture, and several additional lifestyle e-commerce/mobile platforms. Kirk harnessed the power of inbound marketing, generating over 500 blog articles, twelve books, created a lead scoring system, and developed a digital engagement strategy resulting in over 100 leads per month. In 2016, Kirk harnessed his 25 years of industry experience to write Credit Union 2.0: A Guide to Helping Credit Unions Compete in the Digital Age. Kirk is a featured speaker with over 100 previous appearances at conferences, including The World Council Workshop, CO-OP Think Conference, PSCU Annual Conference, Cornerstone Credit Union League, and many more. He helps audiences understand the current state of credit unions, the imminent need to adapt into current digital technologies, and how to regain crucial market share in the banking industry. When Kirk isn't busy helping credit unions be relevant in today's digital age, he loves spending time with his beautiful wife Kimberly and their three amazing kids. They are also starting a vineyard in their beautiful new hometown of Ashland, Oregon.

TIM DAUGHERTY, MANAGING DIRECTOR - BUSINESS CONTINUITY GROUP, ONGOING OPERATIONS

Tim has over 20 years of Credit Union experience. He has worked as an IT Project Manager and DR/BCP Coordinator assisting both front office and back office operations to develop, implement, test and update DR/BC Plans and documentation. Tim has been with Ongoing Operations, LLC for over 9 years helping and guiding clients through the DR/BCP process. Tim holds certifications of Certified Business Continuity Professional with DRII and Crisis Communications Planner with ICOR.

JUDY DELUCCA, CEO, THE NEW ORLEANS FIREMEN'S FEDERAL CREDIT UNION

Judy S. DeLucca joined the staff of The New Orleans Firemen’s Federal Credit Union in March of 1980. She was named President and CEO of NOFFCU in 1987 and continues to serve in that capacity today. Judy was appointed to the Credit Union National Association Disaster Recovery Committee in 2006 where she joined other credit union colleagues from across the United States working on recommendations for a coordinated response in the event of future disasters. New Orleans Firemen’s Federal Credit Union was listed in CUNA’s Best Practices for Disaster Recovery under her leadership after Hurricane Katrina. She was named Louisiana Credit Union Professional of the Year in 2008 by the Louisiana Credit Union League, and was the recipient of the Credit Union Executives Society’s 2008 Glenn Johnson Council Award of Excellence for service to the credit union movement.

BRIAN HAMILTON, VP OF INNOVATION, CU DIRECT

Brian Hamilton has 25 years of experience with financial institutions and fintech start-ups, where he has managed all facets of consumer lending operations, and has led key initiatives in the development of groundbreaking on-line applications, custom scorecards, and loan origination systems. He joined CU Direct in 2017 as the Vice President of Innovation, where he leads research efforts on emerging trends and product innovation. Prior to his position with CU Direct, Brian was Vice President of Lending at UNIFY Financial and Chief Credit Officer at BlueYield. He previously served as VP of Lending at SchoolsFirst, First Tech, and the Golden 1 Credit Union.

JOHN JANCLAES, PRESIDENT / CEO, PARTNERS FEDERAL CREDIT UNION

Partners Federal Credit Union serves the employees of The Walt Disney Company. Currently, Partners serves over 140,000 members throughout the United States with over $1.6 billion in assets. John joined Partners in June 2004 as President and Chief Executive Officer. John has over 30 years of financial services experience spanning retail banking, brokerage and insurance. Before joining Partners, John held leadership roles at Logix (formerly Lockheed Federal Credit Union), Coast Federal Bank, and Valley Federal Savings. John is author of the book, “Doing What Matters: How Leaders Help Individuals and Organizations Thrive”, host of a podcast “C-Suite Interviews” and the founder of www.theceocorner an online forum for leadership development with proceeds going towards scholarships of emerging leaders. HARRY KLOOR, CEO AND FOUNDER, BEYOND IMAGINATION

Harry 'Doc' Kloor is CEO and Co-Founder of Beyond Imagination – a company that will bring general purpose humanoid avatars to the world enabling near instantaneous transportation. He is an American scientist, inventor, film producer, director, writer, and entrepreneur. Kloor was the first (and still the only) person to be awarded two PhDs simultaneously in two distinct academic disciplines. He holds PhDs in Physics and in Chemistry, both earned at Purdue University. BOB MILES, MANAGING DIRECTOR, INFORMATION SECURITY PRACTICE GROUP, ONGOING OPERATIONS

Bob held a position with PSCU for 15 years where his last role was Director of Information Security. In 2010, he started his own Security consulting firm where he supported a $120 million credit card portfolio and a 27 branch $750 million community bank single-handedly for 6 years. Bob began working at Ongoing Operations in 2016 when he was hired to oversee and manage OGO’s Chief Information Security Officer as a Service line of business. His primary responsibility is to work closely with Credit Union CEOs, CIOs, CSOs, and staff to measure their current security posture, identify areas that need improvement, create a roadmap to correct and remediate potential security risks, and help them maintain the program. He also provides assistance to the Credit Union to meet all regulatory compliance requirements including NCUA. Bob is a multi-certified expert in many security practices including CISSP, CISM, Certified Ethical Hacker, Certified Forensics Analyst, Certified Incident Handler, Certified in Legal Aspects of Computer Crime, and Tampa Chapter Infragard (Private sector FBI) member.

PATRICK MILLER, PRESIDENT & CEO, CBC FEDERAL CREDIT UNION

Patrick joined CBC Federal in July 2012, and immediately installed CBC’s Core Values – “Make it Right, Make it Easy, and Make it Personal”, which have evolved into CBC’s brand promise. Results have been overwhelmingly positive, with consumer loans up 450%, membership almost doubled, all with the same staffing levels. Prior experience includes the Colorado Credit Union League, SELCO Community Credit Union in Eugene, Oregon, CUNA Mutual Group, and Navy Federal Credit Union; where he served eight years establishing their broker-dealer and RIA, and oversaw 73 branches.

JOAN MORAN, CEO, DEPARTMENT OF LABOR FCU

Joan M. Moran is the CEO of Department of Labor FCU located in Washington, DC. She has served in this role since 1999. Prior to her current position, Ms. Moran served as CEO of U.S. Customs Service FCU. Ms. Moran currently serves as the Treasurer of Vizo Financial Corporate Credit Union. Ms. Moran serves on the Board of the CU Foundation of MD & DC. Ms. Moran also serves on the Ongoing Operations Board of Managers. Department of Labor FCU is one of the founding owners of Ongoing Operations. Ms. Moran was a Board member of the MD & DC Credit Union Association. Ms. Moran has also volunteered her time in support of the Metropolitan Area Credit Union Association and the Women’s Executive Management Association (WEMA). Ms. Moran is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a BS in Accounting from the George Mason University.

KEITH RICHMOND, DIRECTOR OF CLIENT REPORTING AND ANALYTICS, AFFINION INSURNACE SOLUTIONS

Keith Richmond has developed relationships with Affinion clients for over five years in various roles of increasing responsibility. He started with the organization as a National Account Manager and was responsible for helping large financial institutions meet their revenue goals through targeted marketing campaigns. In 2015 Keith began overseeing Affinion’s team of insurance analysts who are responsible for creating client reporting packages. During this time Keith began crafting the company’s vision for how Affinion would expand client data analytics support outside of traditional marketing campaigns. The result of his leadership is the LUX 360° analytics solution that provides demographic, financial, and behavioral business intelligence, specifically related to each client’s account holder base.

JEFF ROSENBECK, VP ANALYTICS STRATEGY & ENGAGEMENT, PSCU

Jeff Rosenbeck is PSCU’s cross-divisional Leader of Enterprise Analytics and Business Intelligence. He joined PSCU in 2002 with 15 years of national banking management and consulting experience. With broad proficiencies in Card Operations and Technology, Analytics, Business Line management, and a strong financial acumen, Jeff has led a variety of teams across PSCU. In 2011, he championed PSCU’s enterprise analytics initiative, introducing ‘Member Insight’ in 2014, a best in class analytics platform for the credit union industry. Throughout his career at PSCU, Jeff has built enduring partnerships with leading technology providers and payment industry organizations. Born and raised in Connecticut he earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of Massachusetts. Outside of work, Jeff enjoys time with his family and volunteers for Golden Retriever Rescue and several local civic organizations.

ELIZABETH ROBINS, PRODUCT DIRECTOR, BEST INNOVATION GROUP

Elizabeth Robins is a passionate evangelist for new technology solutions in the financial sector. With a background in both Computer Science and Marketing, she is able to view product development through a broad lens and collaborate across teams to find innovative solutions. As a Senior Product Manager at Symitar, Elizabeth led the Amazon Echo and Apple Watch solutions for Episys which bring financial services to voice-activated and wearable technology. While with Diebold, her team successfully launched a video solution directed at ATMs in financial institutions, expanding the transactions available to members. As part of the Best Innovation Group team, Elizabeth brings her expertise in product management to a portfolio of exciting new products for the financial industry. Elizabeth holds a MS in Computer Information Systems from University of Phoenix and a BS in Marketing from Oakland University.

NATE WENTZLAFF, M360 USER EXPERIENCE MANAGER, ONAPPROACH

Nate Wentzlaff joined OnApproach in 2013 as a Business Analyst and is now the User Experience (UX) Manager. He brings the power of analytics and the beauty of data visualization to the end users through OnApproach’s credit-union-specific data platform, M360. Through M360, users can develop analytics that improve business processes and propel credit unions to their desired destination. He also works to enhance M360 for the rapidly expanding needs of the credit union movement and facilitates app development for the CU App Store (www.cuappstore.com). Nate is an alumnus of The Curtis L. Carlson School of Management in Minneapolis, MN. He graduated with a B.A. in Business with a Finance major.

 

JOHN BEST, CEO, BEST INNOVATION GROUP

John Best is the CEO of Best Innovation Group (BIG), a consultancy with a mission to help credit unions create a culture of innovation in their organizations. He is also the host of BIGCast, a weekly podcast focusing on the latest topics in fin-tech. Prior to BIG, Best was the CTO of Wescom Resources Group, the technology CUSO of Wescom Credit Union, one of the largest credit unions in the country. He has also served as Vice President, E-Business at GTE Federal Credit Union, and prior to that served as a senior network engineer at Suncoast Schools Credit Union. He has a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from the University of Phoenix. He lives in Colorado with his wife and two children. Kevin J. ANDREW BERTRAND, DATA AND TECHNOLOGY MANAGER, OUR COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION

Andrew Bertrand began his credit union career over 10 years ago as Marketing Officer at Our Community Credit Union. As the resident data nerd, Andrew moved into the Analytics role as OCCU began their Business Analytics journey over 3 years ago. During that time, OCCU has implemented multiple data initiatives resulting in increased efficiency, increased revenue, decreased costs, and improved member service. Andrew currently oversees business analytics, data strategy, risk analysis, report generation, marketing and segmentation analysis, product costing, and supports ongoing projects at OCCU with business analytics.

JESSE BOYER, VICE PRESIDENT & CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER, NIH

A 25-year veteran of the credit union industry, Jesse Boyer is a seasoned financial services executive who has held leadership roles at several different credit unions and software CUSOs. Jesse is a proven visionary and strategic leader that translates business strategies into solutions, keeping the best interests of the organization, employees, stakeholders and the community in mind. He is an expert in the areas of operations and technology-driven initiatives while bringing a flair of professional acumen to each segment of a high-performing organization. Currently, Mr. Boyer serves as the SVP/COO at the National Institutes of Health FCU and provides vision and leadership in directing all Information Technology, Retail Delivery, Marketing, Business Development and Digital Services to effectively drive and direct the organizations’ sales and service efforts, e-commerce and community outreach programs for the credit union.

JIM BURNER, SVP, OPERATIONS & TECHNOLOGY, TOWER FEDERAL CREDIT UNION

Jim Burner entered the technology field 33 years ago, with 28 of those years in the financial services arena. He specializes in IT strategy, operations, infrastructure, vendor management, information security and compliance. In 1990, Jim began employment at Chevy Chase Bank and was serving as Group Vice President of Technical Services when they were acquired by Capital One in 2010. After 4 years with Capital One as Director of IT, Jim felt a desire to return to the broader scope that a community institution offers and began employment at Tower Federal Credit Union in 2015. Currently as SVP of Operations and Technology at Tower Jim is responsible for Deposit Operations, IT, Information Security and the Project Management Office.

PAUL CAIAZZO, CO-FOUNDER CHIEF SECURITY ARCHITECT, TRUSHIELD SECURITY SOLUTIONS

Paul Caiazzo is the Co-founder and Chief Security Architect of TruShield Security Solutions. He is responsible for developing the corporate strategy and leading the technical product and service development efforts. Paul also leads the federal services team, and brings with him multiple years of experience solving complex cyber security challenges within the federal industry. Paul actively provides strategic advice to C-level executives of large federal agencies, such as the US Department of Transportation (DoT) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). He additionally provides multiple federal agencies with guidance regarding CyberScope and Continuous Detection and Mitigation (CDM) programs. He provides additional subject matter expertise in the areas of Continuous Monitoring, Vulnerability Management, Incident Response, and Cyber Security Operations Center Support. As a key member of TruShield’s Executive Business Development team, Paul works closely with TruShield’s partner companies, crafting strategies to enable effective cross-selling and service integrations. Paul graduated with a Master’s of Science Information Security and Assurance from George Mason University. Paul’s Information Security background includes a long career with Northrop Grumman Mission Systems and Savvis Communications. His areas of expertise include Cyber Security Architecture, Information Assurance, Senior-Executive Advising, and GRC.

CHAD CARRINGTON, SVP/SECURITY, TECHNOLOGY INFRASTRUCTURE & FACILITIES, GOLDEN 1 CREDIT UNION

Chad Carrington joined Golden 1 in 2008 and was quickly promoted to Vice President of IT. He was named Senior Vice President of Security, Technology Infrastructure, and Facilities at Golden 1 Credit Union in 2017. Chad leads the development, oversight, and implementation of programs including information security, business continuity, incident response, information technology, and facilities.

Chad earned his M.A. in Instructional Technology from California State University Chico. He has more than 20 years of experience in technology, operations, and security disciplines in educational, not-for-profit, and corporate settings. Chad frequently shares his knowledge and expertise at industry conferences and events.

PAUL MADSEN

Paul Madsen is a technical architect at Swirlds, the developer of the hashgraph consensus algorithm. Madsen has participated in various design, chairing, editing and education roles for a number of identity standards, including OASIS SAML, OAuth 2.0 and FIDO Alliance. He holds a M.S. in Applied Mathematics and a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from Carleton University and the University of Western Ontario, respectively.

 

YVAN DE MUNCK, US HEAD OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT, JAMES

Yvan De Munck is a strategic advisor to emerging growth companies, particularly active at the intersection of big data and credit risk. Currently heading up the US business for “James”, he helps companies and people develop strategies that nudge clients into behaviors that are socially desirable and financially rewarding.

With an earlier career on Wall Street and the last 5+ years focused on fintech related initiatives, he has created a particular interest in the credit union space, a group that has shown increased interest in applying cutting edge technology to solve all too common problems: how to increase origination volumes without taking on more risk; how to keep default rates under control as the cycle turns; how to optimize operational efficiency in the underwriting process – all this in a regulatory compliant way. Yvan brings with him a global perspective (originally from Europe, fluent in 4 languages) and is a FINRA Series 7, 24 & 63 license holder.

ROJIN NAIR, GENERAL MANAGER, FINTECH SOLUTIONS, CELERO

Rojin Nair is currently the General Manager, Fintech Solutions for Celero. Rojin is a technology executive with 25 years of leadership experience in information management, research, analytics, technology strategy and operational excellence. At Celero, he leads a team of analyst, developers, scientists and engineers responsible for developing financial services technology product innovation in analytics, machine learning, cognitive computing, digital transformation, process automation, digital content management and marketing. A strong believer in the Design Thinking approach, Rojin believes in designing and developing customer centric products and solutions that provide the best user experience to the end users. Current areas of focus include artificial intelligence, cognitive computing, Blockchain, robotic process automation, digital content management, user engagement and experience management.

JOHN NAVIN, UX SPECIALIST, ONAPPROACH

Over 16 years of experience in data and analytics with a diverse industry experience including banking, retail, logistics and oil ranging in size from owning his own company to multiple fortune 300 companies. Since joining OnApproach, John has had multiple roles that he has filled within the UX team. He has had the pleasure of working onsite directly with credit unions and helping architect and develop data solutions using the M360 platform. He has also had the opportunity of being part of the team to work on the Big Data solutions that OnApproach has to offer.

BONNIE ORTIZ, PRESIDENT AND CEO, O2 CONSULTING GROUP

Bonnie Ortiz formed O2 Consulting Group, a premier professional services firm, in 2017 after spending almost a decade as the Chief Operating Officer for The Partnership Federal Credit Union. A recognized expert in strategy formation, process improvement and project management, Bonnie now provides her clients with a comprehensive operational toolkit, aligning people, process and systems to corporate goals. She has worked with commercial for-profit and non-profit entities across numerous industries and has managed substantial budgets and staff as a leader within organizations of various sizes, from start-ups to multi-billion-dollar firms. Bonnie’s expertise is rooted in the achievement of operational excellence, focusing the organization’s executive team on advancing their priorities and achieving their desired results.

BRAD POWELL, CEO, REDBOARD

Brad is known for his expertise in two areas: credit union compliance and making excellent margaritas. Sometimes, work in one of these areas creates a need for the other. Brad has helped credit unions and other financial institutions with compliance, online lending, and applying technology to drive operational efficiency for over 20 years. He’s been making margaritas for at least that long. Brad grew up in a small industrial town outside of Houston, TX, and he still holds allegiance to his home state. Brad holds a BS in Foreign Service cum laude from Georgetown University (hoya saxa!). He and his wife Tonia live in Vienna, VA with their two sons and daughter. When he’s not helping credit unions, Brad is usually involved with Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, or coaching youth baseball and softball.

Rhonda Sheets is the Founder, President and CEO of Support EXP, established in 1997. RON SHEVLIN, DIRECTOR OF RESEARCH, CORNERSTONE ADVISORS - KEYNOTE

Ron Shevlin is the Director of Research at Cornerstone Advisors where he heads up the firm’s strategic research efforts. Ron is the author of the book, Smarter Bank, and is the purveyor of fine snark on his Snarketing blog and the Moment of Snark on the Breaking Banks podcast. Consistently ranked among the top fintech influencers, Ron’s prior experience includes research and consulting for Aite Group, Forrester Research, and KPMG. He has an MBA from the University of Texas and a bachelor’s degree in Economics from SUNY Binghamton.
